Seattle plastic and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Joshua Cooper, has a lot of experience performing revisional breast implant surgery. Reasons women choose to have revisional breast surgery include:
There are a variety of procedures that Dr. Cooper performs in order to address these various breast implant issues.
Dr. Cooper will remove the leaking implants and replace them with new implants, or leave the implants out altogether, depending on the patient’s desires.
Some patients have also developed a hardening of the scar tissue around their breast implants called a “capsular contracture” and Dr. Cooper is skilled at removing these capsular contractures as well.
For women are dissatisfied with the size of their breast implants, Dr. Cooper is able to exchange these implants for new implants of the appropriate size. Other women with saline implants who are interested in having softer, new generation silicone implants may also be candidates for implant exchange.
For implant wrinkling or rippling, sometimes Dr. Cooper will offer fat grafting, whereby fat is removed from the abdomen or thigh and transferred to the breast tissue in order to help camouflage the implant.
For malposition of implants and/or “bottoming out,” Dr. Cooper is able to reposition the breast skin/soft tissue in order to reposition to the implants to the appropriate position. Sometime Strattice or Alloderm (acellular dermal matrix) is necessary to accomplish these operations.
For sagginess or breast ptosis, Dr. Cooper can perform a breast lift (mastopexy) to correct nipple position and make the breasts look perkier.
