Liposuction is a great way to take care of those unwanted fat deposits that diet and exercise just can’t seem to touch! Recovery time is modest compared to a lot of other cosmetic procedures we perform for body contouring.
Liposuction involves removing undesired fat from regions such as your neck, back, bra roll area, abdomen, waist, hips and thighs. Through a few tiny incisions, we will insert a thin metal tube (cannula) that we use to deposit tumescent fluid that contains an anesthetic to help with pain as well as another medication to help prevent bleeding.
Once the tumescent fluid has had a chance to take effect, additional cannulas are placed through these small incisions in your skin, and fat is suctioned out to help improve your body’s contour.
This procedure may be performed very safely without general anesthesia, right here at Sound Plastic Surgery, in our procedure room.
After the procedure, you can expect drainage of tumescent fluid from the small incisions for the first 48 hours. You will wear a compression garment as well to help with healing and to help with the swelling that you will have. Oral pain medications are usually used for the first few days, but pain is usually not very intense.
